About VWJ

Hi friend, welcome to Vancouver Writing Jobs. I’ve created this site as a resource for people in Vancouver, the Lower Mainland, and across BC to help them find the writing, editing, and communications jobs and contracts they’ve dreamed of.

I update the job listings around three times a week (provided there are jobs to post!) For each posting, I’ll do my best to ensure there is nothing exploitive about the position (for example, they want 10 years of experience but will only pay entry-level rates). That said, I don’t have much more information than what’s included in the listings, so I can’t guarantee they’re all valid–I can only do my best.

Sometimes I have access to job postings not included on job boards–I’ll include those as featured jobs.

If you’re an employer or prospective client looking to hire a writer, editor, or communicator, reach out to me to find out about being included as a featured job!

About Heidi

I’ve been a freelance corporate writer, editor and consultant since 2006. In that time I’ve done everything from fact-checking to writing blog posts to being head of content for a marketing firm. Since 2016 (I think) I’ve been an instructor in Simon Fraser University’s editing certificate program, where I frequently teach the Freelancing for Editors course.

I love helping writers and editors start or build their career, and I’m always advocating for freelancers to charge what they’re worth (even when it’s scary). I’ve given presentations and seminars for Magazines Canada, Editors Canada, the University of the Fraser Valley, and the Society for Technical Communication.

For four years I served as the regional director for the Professional Writers Association of Canada (now the Canadian Freelance Guild).
